spiral wound gaskets

At Kent Gaskets we stock and supply a full range of spiral wound gaskets.

These gaskets are available in a wide variety of materials to both International Standards & individual customer requirements.

The standard winding thickness is 4.5mm, however Spiral Wound Gaskets can also be manufactured in the following thickness to customer request. 2.5mm, 3.2mm, 6.4mm & 7.3mm.

Spiral Wound Gaskets with inner and external rings (Style SG & SG/IR), should be fully compressed to the guide ring. Since the rings are provided as a compression stop, this will not affect the sealing performance or damage the gasket.

Special sizes and materials are available on quick delivery times if required.

Type of Spiral Wound Gaskets:

TYPE SG :

This popular design is intended for flat and raised face flanges. Supplied with an external ring (centering ring) which aids location within the bolts, prevents over-compression, provides protection against blow-out and supports the gasket against radial forces.

TYPE SG/IR :

As per a type SG but with the addition of an inner ring. The double restraint provided by the inner and centering (outer) rings, considerably increases the recovery characteristics of the gasket. It also provides a heat and corrosion barrier, protecting the gasket winding and preventing flange erosion.

TYPE C/IR :

Suitable for male and female flanges. The inner ring has the annular space between flange bore and inside diameter, thus preventing the accumulation of solids and minimizing erosion of the flange faces.

It also protects the innermost windings of the sealing element from aggressive media.

TYPE 'C' :

Where tongue & groove or male & female flanges are involved, the recess wall may be used to confine and support a spiral wound gasket. In these circumstances, supporting rings are not required and the basic Type 'C' is recommended. Inner and outer diameters are reinforced with several plies of metal without filler, giving greater stability and better compression.

TYPE H & H/IW :

Used for sealing manholes, handholes and tubecaps. Both styles are manufactured in rectangular, oval, diamond, square and circular shapes to suit most closures. Available with an inner stainless steel wire (Type H/IW) which overcomes the risk of extrusion of the gasket under compression.
